One of our volunteers Andrew, ran the Great North Run the Sunday before last and raised a fantastic £220 for the charity. He was our first GNR runner and we were delighted that he chose us as his cause to focus his money raising efforts on, given the many worthy causes out there. Massive well done to Andrew for all his hard work that Sunday and thank you to everyone who sponsored him.
When we asked him why he did what he did, he had this to say.
“Working at Victims First Northumbria has been an incredible experience. I’ve seen first hand the incredible work and time they commit to
giving quality care to those unfortunate enough to be victims of crime. Having the opportunity to see my personal cases become more confident and more able to cope with their emotions due to VFN’s and my own support has been invaluable.
Due to this I chose to run the Great North Run’s half marathon to fundraise for this valued service”
Thank you Andrew and well done from all of us at Victims First Northumbria.
A word from our CEO Ruth Parker :
“Thank you to Andrew for supporting the VFN service. Fundraising is a vital part of what we do and without committed fundraisers we would not be able to support the numbers of victims we do which we anticipate will reach 26,000 in 2018. Our team of volunteers, which Andrew is a part of are essential to the service, offering emotional support to victims in the aftermath of crime. My thanks to Andrew for completing the Great North Run for VFN and to our team of excellent volunteers.’
