Julie’s Story

“I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AFTER TALKING TO YOU, YOU HAVE MADE ME FEEL THAT I AM NOT ALONE”

How we helped

Julie had been referred to us by Northumbria Police, telling us she was thankful we could offer support as she felt she would have not had the courage to seek support herself.  She decided after chatting with us to pursue a conviction and we contacted the officer dealing with the case to advise him of this and arranged for him to contact her. We discussed court support in detail should the case come to it including pre trial visits and special measures we could arrange as well as personal support on the day to make her feel as comfortable as possible.

What happened afterwards

The case made it to court.  Julie attended with our support and gave her eveidence with confidence, and is now awaiting a result.  She was incredibly grateful for the support provided and the direction things had taken and felt a lot more optimistic about the future.

How we can help you

Often this sort of crime can be extrenly upsetting and there is often too much going on to even know where to start. Victims First Northumbria can speak about whats happened and help you to work out what to do first whilst giving you the support you need to be able to do it. Any areas that are confusing or worrying you can be explained and broken down to help you feel as comfortable as possible.
