How we helped
The family had struggled to get any appropriate support since moving to the region. In a joint meeting with the Community engagement team, Victims First Northumbria and the family, it was agreed regular contact would take place and home security items were provided
Letya was delighted to know that her co-ordinator could speak their own language and could understand their cultural concerns. This built trust with the family to stay in touch with the co-ordinator on a regular basis.
What happened afterwards
With regular contact and a joint Policing and support approach to the issues they experienced the family were much happier and settled and they began to look to the future positively.
How we can help you
Victims First Northumbria are independent from the Police but do work closely with them especially in situations like this as it is important to make sure all aspects are covered from both policing and support angles. We also have a number of staff speaking a variety of languages including Bangladeshi, Punjabi and Polish.
